The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) donated $1,500 in fishing equipment to Benton Parks and Recreation after the Programming Staff completed the education course called Fishing in the Natural State (FINS).
“I am proud of our staff and their efforts to expand our nature based programs.” stated Stephanie Jones, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Through the FINS program, the AGFC strives to instill a culture of conservation and stewardship in children. AGFC equipment to the Benton Parks and Recreation Department including:

- 3 Rod Holder Racks
- Tackle Box
- Hooks
- Bobbers
- Split Shot
- Reel Repair Kit
- Pliers
- 25 Zingers
- Casting Plugs
FINS Program participants are also eligible to apply for Wildlife Education Grant funds. Funds may be used by educators to purchase any needed supplies and equipment.
“The Parks Department will be able to use the equipment it received to offer youth fishing programs,” stated Jones. “It is important as a Parks Department to take advantage of our natural surroundings, and provide more non-athletic based opportunities to our community.”
