MySaline had the inklings of what’s to come in a story over a year ago, but today, Benton Mayor David Mattingly announces the sale of 36.47 acres at the intersection of Alcoa Road and Highway 5, located behind the Pilot Store, for the development of a new shopping center to be called “Hurricane Creek Village.” This property will contain a gross leasable area of 250,000 square feet and will be managed by The Retail Connection of Dallas, Texas. When fully built-out, the center is projected to create 912 full and part-time jobs. The major anchors will be Kroger Marketplace, which will occupy 123,000 square feet and Academy Sports utilizing an additional 62,182 square feet. Construction is set to begin in June of this year, with an anticipated completion date of spring 2015.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting development with industry-leading anchors, Kroger and Academy Sports, in what we believe will be one of the most successful retail developments in Central Arkansas,” said Daniel Fuller, Executive Vice President of Dallas-based The Retail Connection. “This project is TRC’s second major investment in Arkansas, and we see this area as an active and dynamic market long-term,” he said.
The Retail Connection plans to announce more retail stores who are currently signing on to the new center in the next couple of months.
