The Lancaster Animal Project (TLAP) will begin offering Escape Grants to help with pets of victims of domestic violence. The funds will be used to board pets for up to 30 days while a victim is escaping their abuser and finding a new place to live.
Attorneys Clint and Jennifer Lancaster of the Lancaster Law Firm have many domestic violence cases and are animal advocates as well. “Clint and I were inspired to create this program after many of our clients left pets behind with the abuser, and then the abuser tortured or killed the pet,” said Jennifer. “We offer victims the opportunity to keep the family pet safe while establishing a new home.”
The project has multiple fundraisers coming up to raise funds. The first is Puppy Noses and Yoga Poses on November 16th in Benton. Then watch for a Santa Paws event in December, to get pet pics with Santa. In January, there will be a Virtual 5K. You can register for that now at this link. Supporters can help by donating directly at this link, by participating in a fundraiser, becoming a foster parent, and by liking and sharing their social media posts at www.facebook.com/lancasteranimalproject.
TLAP relies on business supporters as well. Jennifer said, “We want to thank K-9 Splash n Dash. They have worked with in many ways, including this program.”
Jennifer Lancaster is the Founder, Director and TLAP Board President, Clint Lancaster is Vice-President, Amber Johnston serves as Development Director, and Monica Kendrick is the Communications Director.
