This really maybe should be two posts but I’m attempting to put it all here. There is a company that has been making healthy meals for local residents for many months now from a home kitchen. They have grown and have now taken over the building at 16925 Interstate 30 in Benton (that’s where Mo’ Betta Gumbo was until they closed recently).
Tamara Baka, the owner of Elite Performance Meals describes the business as “a meal prep service in Benton, Arkansas. We prepare each meal specific to the macronutrient needs of our clients.”
Baka contacted me to let me know that they would be serving free meals to the homeless. This service will be every Sunday from 6-8 p.m., beginning September 18, 2016.
The location will also be a drop point for donations of new socks, underwear, under shirts & shoes, as well as toiletries. They will hand them out to anyone in need while they are there.
Baka stated, “The only downside is, I don’t have a shower for them. Sure wish they could get a warm meal and a warm shower.”
I think they are doing a great thing already, but if anyone is willing to help in making that shower a reality, it would greatly benefit community health, and I hope to have that great news as a follow-up to this story – hint, hint.
They are also accepting donations toward the meal prep and volunteers to help serve. Visit the Facebook page for this new business at www.facebook.com/ElitePerformanceMeals. I went there this morning and I think I will be a regular customer. Get a look below at some of the meals they make. All these pictures are courtesy of the EPM Facebook page.
A note from owner Tamara Baka on the EPM Facebook page: “Y’all!!! We have our very own kitchen. A dream that started with 30 meals in my home kitchen has grown to over 1,000 a week. Requiring we move out on our own. We worked ourselves ragged trying to get the space ready. It is how we want it and it is ours! We couldn’t be more excited! “
