What happens when no one runs for office? We told you in June that it was time to get papers filed if you’re interested in making a difference on your local School Board.
There were three positions up for grabs. One each at Bauxite, Benton, and Harmony Grove Schools. The Saline County Clerk’s Office held the filing period for a week, August 9-16. During that time, just two candidates came forward.
Blake Martin, of Haskell, filed for Harmony Grove Zone 5. Jeremy McDade, of Tull, filed for Bauxite Zone 2. Because no one filed for Benton Zone 1, the school board will decide whether to approve the encumbent, Jarrod Hambric, as a holdover.
The School Election will be held on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, but you can probably predict the outcome. The following school districts in Saline County participated in this election. Find them on the map.
