If you have seen people painting on the concrete storm drains around Bryant, they aren’t graffiti artists. They are actually doing something to help the city. A program called Drain Smart uses art to let the public know not to let litter get into these drains, because it goes to our streams.
In February, the City of Bryant began the search for artists to paint storm drains in various locations. The picture above is Sarah Sitvin, painting a mural at the northeast corner of Reynolds Road and Mills Park Road.
The art is meant to educate the public on local water quality protection. There are five drains in Bryant that will be painted. The work is paid for by a grant to Audubon Arkansas. Read more about the project at www.drain-smart.org.
