On Monday, April 1st at 6:30 P.M., the Saline County Quorum Court will convene for a committee meeting to discuss a resolution condemning the Arkansas Abortion Amendment. The Democratic Party of Saline County stands in firm opposition to “Exhibit B” as proposed by three members of the Saline County Quorum Court. The resolution is overtly partisan and threatens the democratic processes guaranteed to Saline County residents.

In response to this threat to personal autonomy and democratic principles, a protest will be gathering at the courthouse at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, April 1st. We encourage all residents who value their rights to join us in opposing this resolution and standing up for the principles of freedom and direct democracy.
This resolution directly conflicts with our Quorum Court’s claims of belief in a “small government,” as it seeks to attack individual freedoms and dictate personal decisions. It sends an overt message to the residents of Saline County that our voices are not valued, and that we should not participate in the governmental process.
It is appalling that while Saline County residents struggle, Justices of the Peace are each paid $1,000 monthly, and the County Judge receives a salary exceeding $125,000 annually, only to consistently cater to political extremists and big-money donors to the detriment of Saline County residents.
Saline County is facing numerous pressing issues including unaffordable housing, flooding, poor infrastructure, and a deepening political divide, yet despite these challenges, our local elected officials have continuously neglected the wants and needs of our community.
The Democratic Party of Saline County remains steadfast in our commitment to defending the rights and freedoms of all residents. We urge the Saline County Quorum Court to reject this harmful resolution and focus on addressing the real issues facing our community, and we invite all residents of Saline County to gather on April 1st at 5:30 P.M. at the courthouse and to speak to their elected representatives.
