In the category of “What had happened was,” it would be hard for most people to believe what this woman saw. But she got video of it. I imagine this time of year, there will be a lot of Christmas-themed explanations for a deer taking a slow and leisurely stroll on the city streets.
This took place in Hot Springs on Sunday, November 28th, around 12:30 p.m., according to Amy Benzi, who saw it all. The very beginning of the video looks like she is walking to get in her car. Nope.
She is checking out the deer calmly walking across Central Avenue on Bathhouse Row. As the fella crossed, people lined the sidewalk to keep him from going in the shops. A few people attempted to keep him out of the street, but with regard for their own safety.
At one point the deer rammed his rack into the side mirror of a car that was stopped waiting for a chance to leave. This video might be helpful for insurance purposes.
Eventually, the animal was cornered in an alley and authorities were called. They showed up to get the deer out of the road. Beyond that, I don’t have an answer as to what happened to him. I choose to believe he finished his Christmas shopping or list making and reported back to Santa.
