Bryant Mayor Jill Dabbs officially announced her campaign for re-election to a third term. Dabbs released the following statement on Friday morning, July 27, 2018.

Mayor Jill Dabbs has announced she is seeking a third term to continue serving as Bryant’s Mayor.
Since first taking office in 2011, Mayor Dabbs has been enacting positive change and insuring smart growth, throughout Bryant. Fulfilling all previous campaign promises, and more, with the help of outstanding city employees, collaborative local leaders, and by building a coalition of community partners that stretches far beyond the borders of the City of Bryant.
Mayor Dabbs innovative style of leadership focuses on the relevant change that is constant in Bryant. As Bryant continues to grow she is committed to maintain a city with a high quality of life standard that families for future generations will choose as a place to raise their children.
Mayor Dabbs is committed to operating an efficient government that communicates its obligation to the citizens it serves. Before this year ends Phase 1 and 2 of Bryant Parkway will be complete, two new fire stations will be constructed, Bishop Park expansion will be underway, the new all inclusive playground at Mills Park will be complete, and the final design and funding plan for Bryant Parkway will be announced.
This is being done by eliminating wasteful spending, utilizing modern technology, and a business model approach to operating local government. Connecting our local government better to the people it serves through communication, collaboration, and accessibility has already opened doors of opportunity for many volunteer organizations that are working together to bring out what is best in Bryant.
Since becoming Mayor, Dabbs has worked diligently to support, and help establish multiple
community programs, to name a few:
- Restored the School Resource Officer Program to Bryant Public Schools
- Keeping Bryant Beautiful
- Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council
- Healthy Bryant Coalition
- Bryant’s Mayor’s Office of Volunteer Services
- Friends of Mills Park
- Traxx Disc Golf
Also under her leadership Bryant’s street construction and stormwater management has been improved. Numerous construction projects were completed or underway to improve stormwater. These projects will alleviate future flooding of homes and protect property values.
The public works department has been restructured to be more efficient, responsive, and streamlined the process of developing. This strengthens our local economy and insures positive growth. The IT department has also been outsourced bringing the cities technology resources and infrastructure into the 21st Century while saving thousands of tax dollars and providing a higher quality of IT service.
The aging police fleet was replaced in 2012 and updated in 2016 with the funding plan that was put in place to fund future fleet needs.
In 2016 Mayor Dabbs led the City of Bryant to pass a 24 million bond reissuance with 72% approval rate. All of the above mentioned accomplishments were done with existing tax revenues without raising any taxes.
Under her leadership, the city has established a state of the art website with features that allow citizens to stay up to date and communicate easily with City Hall. Mayor Dabbs maintains an open door policy with employees and citizens. And openly stays in contact by sharing her personal cell phone and establishing an interactive social media presence for the city.
Bryant’s future is exciting and the shared vision of the community will become a reality with a proven leader like Mayor Dabbs. In the near future Bryant will have new streets opening, relieving traffic congestion, new businesses will follow, and Bryant will continue to become one of the healthiest cities in Arkansas. Mayor Dabbs is committed to the communities vision for the Heart of Bryant and Midtown. She has managed the challenges of growth very well over the past eight years and is willing to serve another four.
Mayor Dabbs represented Bryant on the Municipal League Executive Committee as Vice President for District 2, and in a leadership role to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. She is currently President of the Metroplan Executive Board, Bryant Chamber of Commerce board member, Arkansas Republican Party, 2nd District Committee Woman for RPA, sits on the board for Friends of the Southwest Trail, served on the National League of Cities committee for Community and Economic Development, and the Arkansas Recycling Coalition. Mayor Dabbs is a graduate of the Arkansas Leadership class XI, and has completed the Community Development Institute at UCA.
Prior to being elected Mayor of Bryant Jill was a business owner/manager, community leader with many different organizations, and a dedicated volunteer. Her passion to volunteer was driven by her daughters passion to swim. Dabbs served as the President of the Bryant Barracudas Swim Team as it grew from 50 to well over 200 members and a board member for the Racers Swim Club, a USA age-level swim team, this led her to becoming a founding member of the People for Parks Committee, which was instrumental in the development of Bishop Park. Dabbs is also an active supporter of Bryant Public Schools.
Dabbs stated, “I have worked hard serving the citizens of Bryant and it is an honor to serve this amazing community of people. I am excited for all that is ahead and looks forward to continuing to serve as your Mayor. We are on a good path of positive managed growth and development, let’s all Keep on Keeping on together.”
