The Saline County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) has been working on this CTE school for some time and now it’s coming to Benton at exit 114. I know SCEDC Director Lamont Cornwell has made plenty of presentations about it. MySaline told you a little about it on Thursday morning, but KATV ran a great story with plan illustrations, so click this link or the pic above to see that.
The CTE stands for Career Technical Education. This is for students to learn a trade with they are still in high school. It creates a skilled workforce for jobs that are in demand.
The school will serve students from seven school districts:
- 4 inside Saline County
– Benton
– Bryant
– Bauxite
-Harmony Grove; - 3 are outside the county, but they serve our students
– Sheridan
– Glen Rose
– Fountain Lake.
You can do an internet search for CTE School to learn more about cities all over the United States doing this, but here is the main link for info on this type of school: https://www.acteonline.org
The SCEDC is joined in support of this project by our local state legislators and school superintendents, as you’ll see in KATV’s video.
