The Saline County Judge’s office held a press conference on the Courthouse lawn Friday to show off the newest addition to the annual Christmas display. Lots of features in the past have been look-but-don’t-touch, but this new train is made of steel and heavy-duty enough that it can hold kids or adults playing in it.
This new train was shipped to the Saline County Road Department in five pieces and they put it together and then brought it to the Courthouse and set it in place with a crane. It cost about $6,000 and the entire cost was covered in equal parts by three local businesses: Big Red Stores, Everett Buick GMC & First Security Bank. Come see the lighting of the Courthouse on Monday, December 5th at 6pm and the Christmas parade around downtown Benton and then enjoy Santa in the Gazebo!
