Here’s the route to get in and out of the fairgrounds. Read more about where vehicle should go, below.
If you’re a Saline County resident looking to protect your property from flood waters that may come in the next few days due to heavy rain predicted, this is for you.
The vehicle line to pick up 20 sandbags for free, starts at the entrance to the Saline County Fairgrounds at the Interstate 30 South Frontage Road, off Exit 116. For your GPS, the address is 406 Fairfield Road, Benton, AR 72015.
This service is available to all Saline County residents as part of the county’s coordinated response to potential flooding. County Judge Matt Brumley declared a disaster emergency at noon Wednesday, so that the county could borrow a sandbagging machine from the State of Arkansas. The Saline County Road Department and the City of Benton Street Department immediately joined forces to consolidate all sandbagging efforts into a single, centralized location for more efficient service.
Volunteers from John 3:16 Ministries in Charlotte, Arkansas, have generously offered their time and labor to operate the machine and help load sandbags into vehicles in line. The County also extends its gratitude to the Saline County Fairgrounds and Everett Buick GMC, who donated water and Powerade to keep volunteers hydrated. Additionally, members of the community have shown their appreciation by personally delivering food – including hamburgers – to those working onsite.
“We’ve seen an overwhelming example of what makes Saline County special -neighbors helping neighbors,” said Judge Brumley. “This is what community looks like when we all come together.”
Traffic Instructions:
• Enter the Fairgrounds from the I-30 Frontage Road. (HERE’S A MAP TO THE DRIVEWAY)
• Monitor the line behind you, and attempt to move up, so the line hopefully doesn’t extend into the road.
• Volunteers are on site to load sandbags for you. Just open your tailgate or your trunk.
• 20 sandbags per vehicle are free and available while supplies last.
• Exit via Fairfield Road.
Video from Wednesday’s sandbagging operations April 2, 2025:
Saline County and City of Benton are working together to provide sandbags to county residents who live in low-lying areas. Go to the Saline County Fairgrounds right now until it’s not safe for the workers to be out there. Get in line and it is going pretty quickly because they have a machine making the sandbags. The limit is 20 bags. Thanks to the John 3:16 Ministries for volunteering help to make this process go faster.
