On Tuesday, Republican Justice of the Peace, C.J. Engel, announced his re-election campaign for Saline County Quorum Court in District 9.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of District 9 on the Saline County Quorum Court and I value the trust that our neighbors have placed in me to represent them in this role,” Engel said. “As a Benton native, Christian, and conservative, it is important to me that we preserve our history and values, while governing and supporting our community’s fast-paced growth responsibly.”
As a member of the Quorum Court, C.J. serves on various county committees including Finance, Public Works and Safety, Human Resources and Broadband. “The quality of public safety, career education, business development, and infrastructure such as roads, water, and utilities are all shaped directly by local government policy. This is our home, and I am passionate about Saline County’s future, so we must be on the right side of these issues to ensure its success through accountability and fiscal responsibility,” he said.
“When I was first elected, my priorities included ensuring our county government was efficient in keeping up with increased demand on infrastructure and public safety while still planning for additional future impacts and needs, and we have done that,” stated Engel. In his first term, he has supported efforts for more efficient and effective emergency services, greater accountability of county departments and spending, better access to broadband internet, continued funding for animal services, and heavier fines on litter and dumping.
C.J. is a graduate of Benton High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech University and a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. He has nearly a decade of experience and leadership in public safety and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Arkansas 9-1-1 Board. He previously served as the Director of Emergency Management and 9-1-1 for Saline County. Engel resides in Benton, with his wife Kiley. They are members of New Life Church – Saline County in Bryant.
