Come to the Benton branch of the Saline County Library for a lesson in government called “Civics 101.” On Thursday, May 25th at 6 p.m., you’ll hear about
- How national, state and local governments work
- How to effectively lobby your elected officials
- Helpful apps, websites, etc. to keep you informed and contact your representatives
- How to run for office
This class is meant for participants aged 18 and above.
Susan Keith Inman will present “How to Run for Office” at the Civics 101 workshop. Susan is a retired election administrator for both the State of Arkansas and Pulaski County, Arkansas. She has been selected by the U.S. Department of State to monitor and observe over a dozen elections in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She has run for public office twice, first in 2014, as the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State, and again in 2016, as the Democratic nominee for State Representative, District 32. Susan is an Arkansas native.
Bring laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, smart phones, etc. to the meeting. Part of it is looking at helpful websites and apps to stay informed and help in contacting local representatives. The Saline County library has free wi-fi connection.
