UPDATE JUNE 10, 2022
One juvenile is in custody and one adult is still on the loose after multiple disturbances at Chapel Ridge Apartments including a shooting on Monday, June 6, 2022, according to Benton Police Department (BNPD). A 13-year-old girl was shot in the leg shortly after 7:30 p.m. She remains under medical care but is reportedly in stable condition.
The suspect in custody is age 17. That individual was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with:
- 2 counts of Terroristic Acts (Class Y felony)
- Battery 1st Degree (Class B felony)
- Aggravated Riot (Class D felony)
- Minor in Possession of a Handgun, (Class A misdemeanor) and
- Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits, (unclassified misdemeanor).
BNPD detectives have now obtained a warrant for a second shooting suspect, Edward Eugene Hill, age 52, who has not yet been located. He is facing charges of:
- Battery 1st Degree (Class B felony)
- 2 counts of Terroristic Act (Class Y felony)
- Aggravated Riot (Class D felony)
- Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (Class B felony) and
- Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits.
Hill should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached if located. Benton Police confirm a shooting at an apartment complex in Benton. Other agencies on the scene are Bryant Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police.
A girl was shot in the leg after shots were fired at Chapel Ridge Apartments on Alcoa Road. She is said to be a young teen. The wound is not life-threatening, according to Police Chief Scotty Hodges.
The incident is not believed to be random, and they have a person of interest. This is an ongoing investigation. MySaline will update with any new information.
