The Central Arkansas Soccer Club ’08 Wildcats finished second behind FC Arkansas ’07 Rhinos (Fayetteville) this spring in the Arkansas Competitive Soccer League. The Wildcats (3-2-1) fell to Fayetteville 1-0 in the league opener. Fayetteville went on to win the league for the second straight season.
The Wildcats, coached by Julie Fluger, now advance to the Arkansas U11 Girls State Championship scheduled for May 18-19 at Burns Park in North Little Rock. Central Arkansas will face FC Dallas Central Arkansas (Searcy) and Texarkana in a round robin format.
Central Arkansas battled Searcy twice this spring in league play, recording a 2-2 draw in Match 2 and a 4-0 victory in the season finale. The Wildcats defeated Texarkana 3-1 in the Red River Classic on April 7.
In addition to six league games, Central Arkansas competed in three tournaments and picked up three friendly matches. The Wildcats posted an overall record of 9-3-6. Four of their six losses were by one goal.
The Wildcats also participate in the Mighty Bluebirds winter indoor league as well as local 3v3 events during the summer.
The Central Arkansas Soccer Club is currently holding tryouts for the 2019-20 season. The next tryout will be held at 5:30 and 7:00 Monday, May 13 at Midland Soccer Complex located at 3865 Midland Road Alexander, AR 72002. The 7:00 time slot is for 2009 through 2001 girls.
