CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will host a class for the community to learn more about the commitment and impact of an advocate. This CASA 101 class will be on Monday, February 24th at 6 p.m. and will last about an hour. The location is at the CASA office at 205 East South Street, Suite #5, Benton, AR 72015.
A few days later, there will be an Advocate Training session for those who wish to proceed with volunteering. That event is at the CASA office on Saturday, February 29th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
