Saline County’s Chief Deputy Tax Collector, Jennifer Carter, announced she is running for Collector. A series of events has left this position open. In 2020, longtime Collector Joy Ballard retired. The Saline County Quorum Court appointed Holly Sanders to fill the term, but an appointee is ineligible to run for that office in a successive term, and Sanders announced her campaign for County Treasurer, after Larry Davis announced he won’t run again. Jennifer Carter released the following statement to launch her campaign:
Jennifer Carter, Chief Deputy Tax Collector for Saline County announced she will be running for the position of Collector.
“I am very proud and excited for the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of Saline County as your next Collector. This position is something that I am very passionate about. Saline County is my home and the Collector’s Office is a huge part of that. When you combine hard work with passion, great things will happen.”
Jennifer Carter began working in the Tax Collector’s Office in 2012. Her hard work and ambition have secured her important roles within the office. Carter has personally implemented changes that have increased collections, provided essential training to all employees, and developed procedures that have improved the operations of the office.
Her ideas have been a great asset to the office and her input is valued by those that she works with. She has worked closely with the current Collector Holly Sanders and the previous Collector Joy Ballard learning invaluable knowledge. As Collector, Carter will continue to move the office forward in a professional manner.
“I am dedicated to the growth and the development of the office, and will ensure that we operate at the highest levels of customer service and quality. My knowledge and experience will provide a seamless transition into the position to immediately serve you as Tax Collector.”
Jennifer Carter is married to her husband of 9 years, Lance Carter. They have one son, Lathan, who will be a first grader this year. Her family lives in Benton where they attend Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoys spending time with family, going camping, and gardening. Jennifer Carter is the daughter of Lloyd and Teresa Claborn of Benton, and the daughter-in-law of Randy and Lana Carter of Benton.
“I look forward to continue serving Saline County, and would greatly appreciate your vote in the upcoming election.” Carter is seeking the Republican nomination for Tax Collector in the primary election that will be held on May 24, 2022.
