UPDATE 11/25/15 4PM:
SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER VEHICLE LANDS ON ROOF OF LOCAL BUSINESS
On 11/25/15, at approximately 7:57 AM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to the area of Military Road near the Interstate 30 overpass on report of a reckless vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Prior to their arrival, information was received that a vehicle left the roadway on Hwy 5 North and landed on top of a business (Tops Shoes).
Upon their arrival at the business, it was determined by officers the vehicle matched the description provided by witnesses of the one driving reckless. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as William Dickerson, age 47, of Mayflower. Dickerson was then transported to a local hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Based on their investigation and evidence located, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Dickerson. Dickerson is charged with:
- DWI-Drugs,
- Possession of Controlled Substance (suspected Methamphetamine),
- Criminal Mischief 1st Degree,
- Possessing Prohibited Article, and
- Driving While Suspended.
- Additionally, Dickerson is an active parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.
This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.

I don’t really know how this happened, except that this particular roof is pretty even with the road behind it. I guess it was bound to become a ramp at some point. I have gotten two photos this morning of a car that is on top of the motorcycle shop next to Congo Stove. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all and be careful out there.
