I get asked all the time about different projects going on and today I’m going to focus on some in downtown Benton. You can find stories by using the search blank, but I thought I’d make them convenient in one starting place.
In order of opening their days, the first project I’ll talk about is a food truck court called Main St. Station. It’s an old “filling station” at the northeast corner of Main & Conway Streets. There has already been one vendor there for a couple of months – Koffee with a Kause. Other food trucks, like Tommy’s Grill plan to be there on different days. The grand opening is July 14th. The next project is a big office building that sits where the old Harvest Foods store sat vacant since its closure in 2009, related to the collapse of Affiliated Foods. The new office is a beautiful modern design and will house Access Control Devices Inc. (ACDI), a tech company that creates software. Similar to the apps on smartphones, they make apps for office machines, so organizations can control and monitor usage. ACDI is due to open late Summer to early Fall. Lastly, Benton has had a farmers market for years, located on the corner of Market & Sevier Streets on the sidewalk in front of the Saline County Courthouse. It has been organized by county government, but that will change soon. The City of Benton is leasing property at Main & Ashley Streets, behind the big mural building, and has broken ground on a big new multi-use pavilion. Its main purpose is for a farmers market, but it will also serve for other events and impromptu gatherings. It’s due to open in late November.
