Bryant Public Schools would like to extend condolences to the family and friends of retired Bryant Superintendent Ed Love, who passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2016.
Love began his career at Bryant as a teacher in 1954. Certified in Social Studies, he taught Math, English, Science and served as athletic coach.
His work at Bryant continued in the role of superintendent after 25 years as a teacher. During his tenure, the first two satellite schools were built: Salem and Davis. After serving 21 years as Superintendent, he retired in 1990.
Love’s influence is strongly felt in facilities and athletics. Love Auditorium was named in his honor. He grew the athletic program from 2 sports in 1979, to 13 sports when he retired in 1990. The program has continued to see tremendous success.
“Mr. Love was one of my mentors. He set the standard for hard work and integrity. I count him as one of my closest friends. No single individual has had more influence or been more instrumental in driving and shaping Bryant Schools into the educational institution it is today,” said Superintendent Tom Kimbrell.
Mr. Love was a dedicated, loyal, and constant supporter of the district. We treasure his contributions and honor his legacy.
