According to the Bryant School District, Bryant Middle School was temporarily on lockdown on Thursday. Spokesperson Devin Sherrill issued the following statement from the District.
Earlier today Bryant Middle School received a report from a parent of a missing handgun. It was NOT believed the gun was in the building, but ALL precautions were taken to keep students and staff safe.
Bryant Middle School parents were notified that students would be held in classes until the Bryant Police Department completed a search of the building. No weapon was found.
We take all safety matters under the greatest consideration. School administrators immediately contacted the Bryant Police Department when the issue was reported to the office. We are thankful for the quick action and strong partnership with our school resource officers and Bryant Police Department.
