Bryant Mayor Allen Scott on Monday issued the following statement reminding citizens of Governor Hutchinson’s directives, and gives an update for the public’s use of City amenities.
Governor Asa Hutchinson added additional directives during his daily press briefing this afternoon. To recap:
- K-12 Schools will not return back to the classroom for the remainder of the school year
- Commercial lodgings and short term rentals, including, but not limited to, hotels, motels, and vacation rentals shall only permit occupancy for authorized guests meeting specific qualifications. To view that list please visit www.healthy.arkansas.gov
- All businesses, manufacturers, construction companies and places of worship shall implement the following social distancing protocols:
- Limit the number of people who can enter into a facility can easily maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another;
If lines form at a facility (inside or outside), facilities shall mark off six-foot increments at a minimum, establishing where individuals should stand to maintain adequate social distancing; - Provide hand sanitizer, soap and water, or effective disinfectant at or near the entrance of the facility and in other appropriate areas for use by the public and employees, and in locations where there is high-frequency employee interaction with members of the public;
- Retail businesses shall provide contactless payment systems or provide for disinfecting all payment portals, pens, and styluses after each use;
- Regularly disinfect any high-touch surfaces;
- Post a sign at the entrance of the facility informing all employees, customers, and congregants that they should: avoid entering the facility if they have a cough or fever; maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another; sneeze and cough into one’s elbow; not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact.
My office and the Greater Bryant Chamber of Commerce has continued to work closely with the retailers in the City of Bryant, and many of these directives were implemented locally over the weekend. If you must be out, and see anything that concerns you while shopping, please bring it to the attention of the store manager or owner immediately so it may be addressed properly.
The Bishop Center, including the Aquatics Center, along with all basketball courts, playgrounds, baseball/softball/soccer fields, outdoor restrooms, tennis courts, and the disc golf course will remain closed until May 22nd based on the recommendation from the National Recreation and Park Association. All trails and green space areas will remain open. Please be mindful of those around you and maintain a minimum 6-foot social distance at all times. We urge you to be compliant with these regulations and expectations. While our goal is for these areas to remain open, if we find that these directives are being repeatedly violated, we will close all facilities for the safety of our residents.
This week we will be finalizing details on upcoming future meetings, focusing on how to ensure city business can continue to move forward, while at the same time meeting all state guidelines laid out for public meetings. I will share that information with you as details are finalized.
I can’t say enough how much I appreciate the resilient spirit that our community has shown during this time. Please continue to remain vigilant in regard to your health and wellness and that of the people around you. If there is anything my office can do to assist, please do not hesitate to contact me.
