According the a statement Thursday evening from Bryant Schools administration, the district will soon transition to a different mask policy. The statement follows.
Bryant Public Schools has always put safety and keeping students in school at the forefront of decision making. Prior to the start of school, the Bryant School Board voted to require masks for the first 30 days with the intent to reevaluate the policy. In order to provide flexibility, the Board voted tonight for a new resolution on masking, which can be adjusted based on COVID data from our community.
Beginning Friday, September 24, 2021, Bryant Public Schools will transition to a new method of determining whether students, employees, and visitors will be required to wear a face covering in district buildings and on school buses.
Each Friday while school is in session, the Administration team will view data from Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI) website to determine the number of COVID-19 infections within the Bryant School District boundaries.
- When ACHI reports the number of new, known infections for a 14-day period per 10,000 residents as 29 or below (YELLOW Level or BELOW), face coverings while in a school district building or on a school bus will be VOLUNTARY but HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
- When ACHI reports the number of new, known infections for a 14-day period per 10,000 residents as 30 or above (ORANGE Level or HIGHER) face coverings while in a school district building or on a school bus will be REQUIRED.
- Masks are optional at extracurricular events and outside sporting activities.
The weekly mask status will take effect the following school day. Parents and staff will be notified on Friday by email, text, district app, and the information shared at bryantschools.org and on the district and school social media channels.
