Bryant Police arrested a Little Rock man after they say he was street racing, crashed and fled.
A motorist was racing another car eastbound on Arkansas Highway 5 Friday night. Police say the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Stagecoach Road and Otter Creek Parkway.
A Bryant Officer saw a vehicle racing on Hwy 5 near Midland Road sometime around 11:30 p.m. Shortly after the Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, he lost sight of it.
It was then the officer found the car wrecked at the intersection. It collided with another vehicle. The suspect driver, Terry Smith, age 27, of Little Rock, was taken into custody after a short foot chase, according to police. The driver of the other vehicle received serious injuries from the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Smith was booked into the Saline County Detention Center on Saturday, July 16 at about 4:00 a.m. and charged with the following:
- Fleeing By Vehicle Or Conveyance – FD
- Fleeing (On Foot) – Misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving – MA
- No Vehicle Lights At Night – MU
- No Seatbelt – Class U – V
- Racing on Public Highways – Class A – Misdemeanor
- Improper Passing – Class U – Misdemeanor
His bond was set at $0.00. The charges and bail amounts may change after court appearances and may not be current.
