The Hornets media team represented well at a national competition in June, earning 2nd place and 7th place in different categories.
TV Production instructor Michael Westbrook accompanied six Bryant High School Hornet Media students to participate in the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. This took place in June 19 – 23 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Asher Bird and Sam Morgan finished Second in the Nation in Audio/Radio Production. The two spent two days producing an NPR style audio news package. It was the first time since 2013 that an Arkansas school received a medal in this event.
The Video Broadcast News team consisting of Bentley Balisterri, Taylor Dischinger, Nick Gibbs, and Hannah Rudnick finished in 7th place for the second year in a row. Students spent three hours producing a live three-minute newscast.
Students qualified for the event in April during the Arkansas State competition. This is the second consecutive year Hornet Media has represented Arkansas in Audio/Radio Production and Video Broadcast News in Atlanta.
