The City of Bryant announced that they plan to apply for a grant on or about December 15th from the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Grant Program through the Natural Resources Division. The funds would be used to acquire and demolish one structure in the FEMA Delineated Floodplain to prevent future flooding damage.
“It is one property located at 2617 Henson,” stated City of Bryant Code Director Greg Huggs. “It is considered by FEMA a Severe Repetitive Loss property by the amount of claims they have paid on it over the last 16 years. Therefore this grant became available for mitigation. We are applying for the grant now, but could take up to a year for award. It is a 100% grant, so the City will not be out any money on this one.”
Information related to this project will be available for review prior to December 1, 2019 at the offices of Central Arkansas Planning & Development District, Inc., 902 N. Center Street, Lonoke, Arkansas 72086 between the hours of 8:00-4:30. Public participation is an important part of City of Bryant flood mitigation planning process and citizens of City of Bryant are encouraged to submit comments and questions.
Written comments and questions should be submitted to Tanya Childers, City of Bryant’s authorized Agent at P. O. Box 300, Lonoke, AR 72086, no later than December 1, 2019 in order to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public notice process. For additional information concerning the proposed application, please contact Tanya Childers at 501-676-2721 or [email protected].
