City Council members in Bryant voted Tuesday night to confirm local residentAshley Clancy to assume the soon to be vacant, Bryant City Attorney position.
Mayor Allen Scott began interviewing candidates in early August to complete Josh Farmer’s elected term. He will soon leave to transition to his new role as Saline County Circuit Court Judge.
“The City Attorney position handles all prosecutorial matters for the city, as well as advises the mayor, city council, boards, commissions, and other city officials in all legal matters pertaining to city operations and interest,” stated Mayor Scott. “Ashley Clancy’s professional experience and familiarity with our community will allow her to quickly acclimate to the duties and responsibilities of this position. I feel confident that she will continue to move the office of City Attorney forward in a positive direction for our city.”
Scott brought Clancy forward to the council as his recommendation to complete Farmer’s term with the city.
For the past thirteen years, Mrs. Clancy has been a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the central Arkansas area, serving in both Pulaski County and Perry County.
Early on, Ashley found a passion to help and serve others. Her education goals took her to Arkansas State University where she graduated summa cum laude. In 2006 she received her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Arkansas William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock. While in law school, Ashley worked at Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus Law Firm researching and writing briefs for litigation on labor, employment, and immigration law.
As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Ashley has extensive litigation experience and has tried hundreds of jury and bench trials. She has maintained a great relationship with fellow attorneys, members of the community, and court staff.
After graduating from Benton High School, Ashley Clancy now considers Bryant her home. She is very active in her community and can be found at Bryant Hornets football games on Friday night supporting her husband, Offensive Line Coach Shane Clancy, and cheering on her favorite team. Ashley and her husband have four children, Harley (15), twin boys Turner and Cash (7), and Sawyer (6). Ashley and her family have the “212 mentality” in all facets of life where they believe “Be the difference and always give the extra degree.”
Josh Farmer adds “It has been a pleasure serving the citizens of Bryant. I have enjoyed seeing the progress of the city. Tonight the council made an excellent choice in selecting Ashley Clancy as the next Bryant City Attorney. I look forward to watching the continued advancement of the Bryant family community with her added leadership. Go big blue!”
Farmer will work closely with his replacement over the next several weeks as they begin transitioning cases and projects to her care.
