A Bryant man faces hundreds of charges involving images of children that were of a sexual nature.
On the morning of Monday, September 18, 2023, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce, along with the Bryant Police Department arrested Richard Jason Wilson, age 56, of Bryant.
The suspect is already a registered Level 3 (high risk) sex offender. He has been the subject of an ongoing investigation involving the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to a statement by the Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives in the two agencies worked together closely and diligently to positively identify Wilson as the suspect in the case. The Sheriff’s Office stated that with the assistance of the Bryant Police Department, he was taken into custody. He is now at the Saline County Detention Center.
Wilson was charged with 1,250 counts of Distributing, possessing, or viewing of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. This is a Class B Felony (Arkansas §5-27-602).
The Sheriff’s Office statement concluded, saying, “Teamwork is an essential part of police work. By working together, they can create safer communities for the citizens of Saline County. Thank you Bryant Police Department for your assistance with this case.”
