Benton parents are concerned after hearing there may have been a threat to one of the schools. A man is being investigated, but it’s unclear whether there was ever a threat to Angie Grant Elementary School.
Benton Police officers (BNPD) identified a subject and arrested him. William Boyd, age 61, of Benton is accused of sending messages about a threat for the school, according to a statement. The BNPD did not release the text of the message. The statement did say they were made aware of the messages on Tuesday and they brought in the suspect for questioning on Wednesday.
Boyd was charged with Communicating a False Alarm. The suspect was in police custody during school hours. After some investigating by detectives, they was determined there was not an actual threat.
