ORIGINAL 08/07/2017 8AM
According to Benton Utilities, this boil order by the Arkansas Department of Health is still in effect from over the weekend:
(Different from the boil order issued on Wednesday, Aug 2, 2017.)
Late Friday afternoon August 4, 2017 a 12-inch water main ruptured on Duncan Rd (map above). The water supply to several customers was interrupted for most of this time while the Benton Utilities crews made the necessary repairs. This service interruption requires a precautionary boil order. The Arkansas Department of Health requires this order because of the possibility of contaminated water entering the distributions system as the result of the line compromise and complete loss of normal system pressure in your area.
Customers in the following areas are affected:
- Duncan,
- Salt Creek,
- Valley Vista,
- Pheasant,
- Partridge,
- Hartford Hills Subdivision,
- Coldwater Creek Subdivision,
- Northgate Subdivision,
- and any customers whose water was off Saturday morning.
WHAT TO DO:
Under the ‘Boil Order’ Notice, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minutes prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
This notice will be lifted by the Arkansas Department of Health when one set of bacteriological samples indicates that the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
