EAST END WATER – SALINE COUNTY
PRECAUTIONARY BOIL ORDER NOTICE
LIFT DATE: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2018
The Department of Health has lifted the “Boil Water” notice (issued on 1/22/2018 7:57:21 a.m.) for the entire East End Water system. This was due to a broken valve. This order was issued as a precautionary measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of complete loss in normal system pressure.
Bacteria samples were taken on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. They were found to be safe. A satisfactory disinfectant level has been established throughout the distribution system. The water is therefore considered safe from human consumption.
The Department of Health has confirmed the ‘Boil Water’ Notice issued for the Entire Easy End Water System. This order was issued as a precautionary measure because of the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system as a result of a complete loss in normal system pressure.
Under the ‘Boil Water’ Notice, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
This Notice will be lifted by the Department of Health when set(s) of bacteriological samples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
