Benton Utilities sent the following statement Friday afternoon about a boil order for customers in an area of Hurricane Lake Estates.
BOIL ORDER ISSUED
This is to notify you that on Friday July 13, 2018, the water main supplying water to the following areas burst, and these customers are now included in a precautionary boil order, the area includes:
Westminster Ave starting at 5706 through house numbers 5812 and 5913.
The water supply was interrupted for longer than 5 hours while the Benton Utilities Water Distribution Department made the necessary repairs.
After the water service was restored, the aforementioned areas are under a precautionary Boil Order per Arkansas Dept. of Health Regulations. This order has been issued because of the possibility of contaminated water entering the distribution system as the result of the line compromise and complete loss of normal system pressure in the area.
Under the ‘Boil Water’ Notice, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
This Notice will be lifted by the Arkansas Department of Health when one set of bacteriological samples indicates that the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please, call 776-5942 for information.
