The sign is down already. I stopped to take a picture of the sign crew taking the huge Best Buy sign off the building, now that this location in Benton is closed. The crew said their work orders are to take the sign down and cap the ends of the wires. They have no knowledge from the property management of anything new going in there. We’ll keep you updated.

We told you in May to expect to say goodbye to our local Best Buy in Benton. That day has come and they are closed for business. It’s easy to speculate as to what killed this particular location, but the fact remains, it’s gone and we have to hope as a community that something wonderful comes along to fill the gaping hole it will leave in the shopping landscape along Interstate 30.
Bowling would be great. Are you bowling fans still contacting companies to let them know we have high school bowling teams and adult leagues that have to travel out of town to play? Just a thought. The email below is from a reader that gave me the final news this morning.
I checked for any additional info on the corporate website. My personal browser shows my preferred store is the one in Benton, so I clicked there on the location preference and noted that it took me to “404 Not Found” page. On mobile, it asked me to share my location, and then chose the store in Little Rock as my closest location.

I’m hearing whispers from MySaline readers that the Best Buy location in Benton did not renew their lease and won’t be open for long. One local employee said it’s closing, another employee at the Chenal store confirmed it. Still another party in property management said they didn’t renew their lease.
MySaline contacted the local store in hopes of getting an official statement. The statement from a manager named Katy is that she is not willing to affirm or disaffirm the rumor that they are closing. We’ll have more on this as information becomes available.
In related news, Best Buy recently changed their logo at the corporate level. It sparked some criticism and was compared to some other logos, like Bud Light and Finding Dory, which have similar colors and font. See some examples below of the most popular tweets.
