Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced Tuesday, November 21, 2017, the conviction of Beverly Ann Brooks, age 59, of Benton for transferring funds out of nursing home residents’ trust accounts. Brooks pleaded guilty in Pulaski County Circuit Court to six counts of exploitation of an endangered or impaired adult, Class A misdemeanors for misappropriating the funds of six long-term care facility residents in February and March 2014.
She was sentenced to one year probation and must pay $1,540.03 in restitution to Regional Health Properties, Inc. (the former owner of Northridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation), plus a $500 fine and court costs. Brooks paid $3,600 in restitution prior to the guilty plea.
“Beverly Brooks took advantage of some of Arkansas’s most vulnerable residents,” said Attorney General Rutledge. “It remains a top priority of my office to stop this type of fraud. Attorneys and investigators at the Attorney General’s office continue to investigate these crimes and prosecute those who take advantage of the system and Arkansas residents.
This case was referred to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit by the Office of Long-Term Care and was prosecuted in cooperation with the Office of the 6th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley.
