If you were wondering about the process, the SASC administers the program to assist in the improvements to city streets for incorporated cities and towns in Arkansas. ARDOT provides technical assistance to the SASC and for projects they approve. Then the ARDOT designs, procures construction contracts, and inspects the funded projects.
To request a project, the SASC requires a City’s Mayor to submit a written request on City letterhead to the SASC. Each City may submit only one request per calendar year. The SASC gives priority to cities that have not ever been approved for funding. The focus is on overlay type projects, including surfacing unpaved streets. The maximum funding for a project is $300,000.
