UPDATE MAR 14, 2024
Benton Public Schools released the following statement Thursday morning regarding a threat to Benton Middle School.
Yesterday afternoon, at 2:40 pm, Benton Middle School administration was made aware of a concerning message written on a bathroom stall. In response, an immediate investigation was initiated. We wanted our BMS staff and families to know we were aware of the situation and shared what we could at the time. Following a thorough investigation, we can now confirm that there was no substantiated threat to the safety of Benton Middle School. The individuals responsible for the message have been identified, and appropriate actions are being taken. Ensuring our students’ and staff’s safety and security is our utmost priority, and we are committed to maintaining transparency throughout this process. However, we must also respect the ongoing involvement of law enforcement, which may limit the information we can share until the matter is fully resolved. We appreciate the understanding and support of our staff, families, and community.
