Benton Mayor Tom Farmer released a statement Tuesday, March 31, 2020 revealing that he is in self quarantine. The statement follows:
Dear Citizens of Benton,
By now many of you have heard I am in self quarantine. While I may not be keeping normal office hours, I have regular daily contact with all of the city’s department heads and other officials of the city. Benton will continue to operate as if I were sitting behind my desk at City Hall, even though I am not physically present. I have full confidence in our city employees and their ability to continue providing the services you expect from your city government. I will continue to ensure the city conducts its daily business as always. While I would prefer the ability to maintain personal contact with citizens at City Hall, we will have to utilize the telephone and email more than we have in the past in order to abide by the social distancing directives of our Governor. Even though we are facing a small set back, the City of BENTON will continue to move forward no matter who else is on pause at this time.
Tom Farmer
Mayor of the City of Benton
