At approximately 3:54 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a call on Hiland Street for a disturbance and noticed a man believed to be wanted for warrants. The man denied being 26-year-old Deunangelo Lee George of Bryant and gave officers another name.
Officers said the name given and the photograph of that name did not match. Officers then called out the name “Deunangelo” and the man turned around and looked at the officers. When Mr. George was advised to place his hands on the police patrol car, he fled on foot behind houses on Hiland Street.
K-9 officer “Duco” was deployed to search for the suspect with other officers and located George underneath a tarp covering two ATVs. George was taken into custody and faces charges of Obstructing Governmental Operations, Fleeing on Foot, and was served warrants for 3rd degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass, and Failure to Appear.
