Changing the Lives of Children: Heath Massey

Making an impact on children’s lives everyday, Heath Massey is truly an icon of Saline County.
Heath Massey, Chief Operating Officer at the Boys and Girls Clubs, embodies what it means to give back to one’s community. Throughout Heath’s extensive career he has held multiple positions at the Boys & Girls Club, all the while having the same impact on not just children but everyone around him. Tammy Lamere, longtime co-worker of Heath, states, “Even if it isn’t all fun and games, you feel the love Heath has for the kids, the club, the staff, and the community.”
From the interview alone, it was apparent that Heath has a stern yet electric personality that, while commanding, makes those around him feel comfortable. Heath has always been the go-to guy at the club when it comes to resolving issues with children, but also being able to get the children excited about anything going on in the club that day.
Even when the children grow up into young adults, they still remember how outstanding Heath was, proving the significance he has made in our community. The inspiration Heath has emitted has inspired kids all over Saline County to strive for their goals and pursue their dreams. Jamel Jones was a member of the Boys and Girls Club when Heath started his career there. Jamel said, “Heath Massey’s impact on my life was and continues to be indescribable.” He goes on to say that “He’s supported me, corrected me, championed me, encouraged me, disciplined me, and made me a better person. I’m forever indebted to his unending leadership and I’ve remained appreciative of his consistency and dedication in my life. I am who I am today because I had individuals like Heath leaning in where it mattered and making a lasting impact on a kid who truly needed the love. I owe him everything!” Jamel Jones is now a Senior Manager of Learning and Development at Walmart in Northwest Arkansas. Jones accredits his success as a military leader and now business leader to people like Heath and the Boys and Girls Club.
Overall, Heath impacts the community in a multitude of ways all the while being the same inspiring, hardworking, and loving individual in the process.
