Although they lost, the Benton offense was still electric. Senior WR Maddox Davis had his best game of the year, racking up 248 yards on a career-high 18 catches. Davis also hauled in 2 touchdowns on the night. Maddox Davis has not only been one of the best receivers on the team but also one of the best receivers in the state, and his senior season will leave a mark on Benton Football history forever. Fellow senior WR Elias Payne was also effective in the air attack, catching for over 172 yards on 7 catches and a touchdown.
The Panthers flipped between an injured junior Drew Davis and an inexperienced sophomore Chase Cobb, contributing to the Panthers’ inconsistencies at the quarterback position, however, they still combined for over 450 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Despite the loss, the Panthers still managed to put up impressive stats on the defensive side of the ball. Senior S Isaac Hill led the team with 16 tackles and senior LB Walter Hicks followed close behind with 13. Senior DL Dominic Roy stood out in the trenches, racking up 9 tackles, and 2 sacks, and forcing a fumble that senior S J. Thomas Pepper recovered.
Although the season ended sad, the Benton High School EAST Program and Holland Chapel are incredibly proud of the football team and our beloved seniors.
