There might’ve been a lot of upsets this weekend but Benton and Sylvan Hills certainly wasn’t one of them. The Panthers went on the road last Friday to take on the Bears, an opponent who hasn’t seen a win since November 7th, 2022.

The Panthers started the opening kickoff with a 65-yard return by senior receiver Elias Payne. The following drive resulted in a 14-yard touchdown pass between Junior QB Drew Davis and Junior receiver Will Carter.
Davis and Carter had an impressive connection. By the end of the first quarter, they had completed four passes for three touchdowns.
Constant pressure on the quarterback from seniors Jay Alford, Jack Johnson, Ty Matyja, Dominic Roy, and sophomore Weston Monson helped to contain the Bears. They all recorded sacks on the night. Junior Trevon Stewart, seniors Landon Jackson, and O’Marcus King all recorded picks. King took his back for a pick-six in the first half.
The score at the 9-minute mark of the second quarter was 49-0 favoring the Pant. The score remained lopsided for the remainder of the game.
With the Panther starters benched in the second half, they were still able to hold the Bears to 0 points and the Benton Panthers headed home with a dominant 49-0 win.
Head coach Brad Harris was proud of his team for playing a tidy game and was happy to see them play to their potential. After going 4-0 in their last for games Benton will travel to Sheridan (2-3) in hopes of keeping their win streak alive.
