On Thursday, the City of Benton posted a job listing for the position of City Attorney. It is an elected position with four-year terms, but the current City Attorney, Brent Houston, will only serve to the end of 2020.
Houston won his election bid for the Circuit Judge seat in District 22, Division 03.

City Attorney Vacancy
The City of Benton is accepting resumes from attorneys interested in being appointed to fill the unexpired term of office of our City Attorney beginning January 1, 2021.
Qualified individuals are required to hold a current license to practice law in the State of Arkansas and must be a resident of the City of Benton. The position will be filled by a majority vote of the City Council members. The term of office will expire December 31, 2022. The person appointed will be eligible to run for the position in 2022.
Compensation is $70,000 annually, plus a monthly allowance of $4,166.66 for office and overhead expenses.
