Benton City Council will consider several items of business on Monday, January 22, 2024. See a full list below ??of the topics of discussion. Council will vote of some of the items. There will also be a public meeting about development of storage units at 5:00 p.m.
There is an agenda meeting at 5:30 p.m. where the council members will review the items to be discussed in the regular City Council meeting. That council meeting will immediately follow the agenda meeting.
The public is always invited to City Council meetings. The location is at the Benton Municipal Complex, 114 S. East St., Benton, AR 72015.

• Any animal in the custody/care of Benton Animal Services will be implanted with a microchip living in the City of Benton
• Classify Storage developments in all zones as a conditional use
• Benton Public Utilities Commission to use a portion of the in-lieu franchise transfer for an agreement with Entergy
• Condemn and raze structures at 422 W South St, 305 S Main St, 712 Edison Av, and 1423 Cedar St (images above)
• Request Saline County Tax Collector to place lien against 27237 Ranchwood Dr for incurred expenses by the City
• City abandoning interest in K-9 Sam, giving him to his handler, Miles French
• Accepting the audit by Bureau of Legislative Audit for City for Fiscal 2022 and allocating funds
• City to apply for 75/25 Grant to improve drainage around Shady Trail
• City to apply for State Aid to improve streets around Benton
• Amend 2024 budget to give $110,000 to FD to purchase 10 airpacks, using cash from grant received in 2023
• Amend 2024 Parks budget to accept $95,038 from Farmers Bank & Trust to purchase stage
• Amend 2024 Street Improvement budget to accept grant for $900,000 to construct SW Trail from Hazel St to Saline River
• Mayor to seek grant from Arkansas Game & Fish Commission
• Adopt certain policies and procedures for BNPD, declaring emergency
• Permit certain full-time employees and/or relatives to conduct business with the City
• Rezone properties on River St, from R2 Single Family to HI Heavy Industrial (images below)
• Waive competitive bidding for Benton Utilities to purchase wall mount M400B2 Base Station
