A school bus full of passengers had an electrifying scare on Tuesday. Representatives from Benton Schools sent word to parents that students and staff on their way to a band concert were temporarily stopped and stuck in a situation with a powerline trapping the bus.
In most situations where a vehicle comes in contact with a live electrical wire, you shouldn’t exit the vehicle, according to WikiHow. No one was hurt in this incident and the authorities showed up quickly to help.
The following is a statement sent to parents from a Benton teacher.
“I am writing to inform you that this morning while being transported on a bus to our performance at First Baptist Church, the bus became entangled in a low hanging power line. The bus was immediately stopped and 911 was contacted as well as our transportation director and school administration.
“Police officers responded immediately as well as school administration and our transportation director. All passengers and sponsors remained on the bus until the power line was removed and we were instructed by authorities that we could exit the bus safely. No one was harmed during this incident. Another bus was provided and we continued on to our performance at First Baptist Church.”
