Verizon Franchise Agreement
City Attorney, Brent Houston updated the committee on the progress of the franchise agreement with Verizon to allow them to run cables to provide services to commercial customers. This would also bring in revenue for the City. Mr. Houston is requesting to bring this to the City Council for approval. Alderman Murphy made a motion. Alderman Baptist second. Motion carried.
Van Tassel/Benton Utilities Property
City Attorney, Brent Houston explained that several years ago property was deeded to the City of Benton by Hurricane Lake Estates because of utility easements and infrastructure located on the property for which Benton Utilities is responsible. One parcel was deeded to the City by mistake. Van Tassel has purchased the property. No infrastructure is located on the property and Van Tassel is requesting the property be deeded back to them so that it can be used in a new development. Alderman Murphy made a motion. Alderman Baptist second. Motion carried.
Amplify Fest Ordinance
Tim Tennant stated that there was a request to waive the noise ordinance for the Amplify Fest concert the weekend of August 17-18. There has been a resolution approved for this every year since Amplify Fest started. Alderman Murphy made a motion. Alderman Lee second. Motion carried.
Animal Control Agenda:
Terry Parsons stated that there have been two coyote attacks against pets within the last three weeks. He explained that he was looking into trying to live trap them or dart them to begin with. If that doesn’t work, there is a possibility of having to arrange a hunt.
