The three top spellers were decided in the Saline County Spelling Bee today. Students from four middle schools, one junior high, and ten Saline County elementary schools competed for the top honor in the Spelling Bee, held January 10th at Bishop Park. Charlotte Calhoun, Gifted Talented Coordinator for Bryant Schools, coordinated this year’s event. First Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas was the sponsor.
Lirika Farr earned 1st place. She is in the 4th grade at Hill Farm Elementary. Kenzie Kling placed 2nd. She is in the 5th grade at Davis Elementary. Madisyn Brady took 3rd place. She is in the 7th grade at Arkansas Christian Academy.
Each of the top three contestants received a medal and a certificate. First place also received an Echo, second place a $25 Amazon card, and third place a $15 Amazon card.
Lirika will compete in the Arkansas Spelling Bee on February 1st in Cabot. The winner of that contest advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
