A few hours after most people have gone to bed Thursday night, November 18th, the night sky will be putting on a show that humans will only have chance in their lifetime to see.
It’s a full moon in combination with a partial lunar eclipse. This is the longest lunar eclipse since the year 1441. It will be a near total lunar eclipse and the full moon will look blood red, due to the Earth’s shadow.
At the event’s peak around 3:03 a.m., there will just be a sliver of moon showing. The full event will last around 3.5 hours, beginning around 1:19 a.m.
This particular full moon is called the Beaver Moon. Clouds should be sparse, according to the National Weather Service, making for a good viewing situation.
