Dustin Parsons of Benton released a document to media early on Monday, November 6, 2017, stating that he will seek the office of State Representative for District 28. Parsons is running as a Democrat. He is a 5th Grade Teacher at Bauxite Middle School. He earned a Master of Education degree at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He is 31 years old and engaged to Mardi Gayle. Parsons has been very involved with the Democratic Party in Saline County, and spoke at the Democratic Convention during the Presidential Election of 2016. Dustin Parsons Launches State Representative Campaign Benton, AR – Advocating for whole child education, a stronger agricultural economy, and the overall quality of life for District 28, Benton native and Bauxite elementary teacher Dustin Parsons declared his candidacy for District 28 State Representative today.
Known for his community advocacy and passion for education, Parsons said he ultimately decided to run for State Representative to ensure equity for all children and their families by putting them first in a visionary educational system that looks to the rest of the 21st century.
Reflecting on his experience, Parsons said, “Our education system can and must work for every child, every family. Just as I do as a teacher, I will do so in the legislature.” He further added, “Educating students for the 21st century requires a rigorous, supportive environment and a curriculum that prepares students for their futures. It’s about a long-term investment in our most valuable resource: our children.”
