Bauxite’s tiny quiz bowl team plows competition; Heads to finals Apr 22nd

Congratulations to these four students from Bauxite Public Schools, who went to the Quiz Bowl tournament and beat out teams with three times as many members, including one previously undefeated team.

On Saturday, April 1st, 2023, Forsythia Williams, Kloe Jackson, Trinity Brasher, and Audrey Foster participated in the Quiz Bowl tournament at Arkansas State University at Beebe. Tiffany Scruggs and Russell Williams have been helping with the junior high and high school Quiz Bowl teams.

With only four members on their team, the odds were stacked against them. Most teams have from 10 to 12 members. According to a social media post by box site schools, “They beat teams of twelve, and they beat the undefeated Trumann Quiz Bowl team.”

This Bauxite Miners team (4A) will advance to the televised Arkansas PBS championship on April 22nd. They will face Arkadelphia. Note that another team in Saline County, Benton Panthers (6A) will face off with Russellville. See the list below for the times and teams in each conference.
